The ensemble formed out of a graduate student brass quintet when Allison and Corbin Dillon, our Education Coordinator were in school at The University of New Mexico. We loved New Mexico (especially those breakfast burritos!) but we wanted to make a living in the midwest, so after spending the summer of 2008 at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, we packed up and moved across the counrty to Minneapolis. Alex, our trombonist, joined the ensemble shortly thereafter, and Nick and Ed are the latest additions to the quintet's artistic staff.
Yes it is! It didn't start out that way - like many musicians we all put in our time doing other jobs to support our "music habit". We have been a full-time ensemble since the fall of 2009, and a typical schedule for us includes working in the office most of the day, with rehearsals, practicing, and of course, gigs taking up any additional time. Most of us do some private brass instruction as well, for our availability and rates contact us.
Nearly all of our work with the quintet is related to our mission and therefore non-profit work. The same artistic staff also perform church services, events, and wedding ceremonies for The Copper Street Brass Quintet, L.L.C. , which donates 100% of its profits to the non-profit to support its mission.
Yes! As a registered 501(c)3 organization, all donations are tax deductible. We will provide you with a receipt for your records.
Yes. Most venues where we perform are public auditoriums or schools, which are accessible. Our board of directors has approved an ADA accessibility plan for our organization. If you have requests for large-print programs or other questions about accessibility to our concerts or educational programs, contact us and we'll be sure to get in touch right away.
In the future...we would really like to make our music available for purchase but we currently do not have time to secure the licensing required for publishing non public-domain music, and just don't have time to get it all set up between regular work, rehearsals, and gigs. It is for sure in our plans, and as soon as we can we will make many of our tunes available for purchase.
